Coologne : Jena 2001 The two volume set in an illustrated slip case, volumes in glossy white pictorial card covers in Mint condition, no markings internal or on the outside. Covers lettered in black; colour illusts throughout; parallel text in English and German. ‘Heinrich von Kleist’ was published to accompany the exhibition at Galerie der Jenoptik in 2001. Bernd Heinrich Wilhelm von Kleist was a German poet, dramatist, novelist, short story writer and journalist. Since 1998, artist Frank Stella has studied the dramas, novellas, and art theoretical writing of Heinrich von Kleist. This volume covers around 90 of Stella’s paintings, reliefs, and sculptures produced in an effort to better understand von Kleist's work. With essays by Franz-Joachim Verspohl, Martin Warnke, Wolfram Hogrebe, Robert K. Wallace. The Writings of Frank Stella includes the Charles Eliot Norton lectures delivered at Harvard University in 1983-84. A Fine, possibly unread, copy in similar slipcase
