With the bookplate of E.D.R. Eagar, one-time captain of Hampshire and noted cricket bilbiophile, laid down inside the front cover. James Pycroft (1813-95) was a pioneer of cricket research. This classic book on cricket technique, the first of its kind, is one of the game's great literary masterpieces, covering many key aspects of the game including its origins, the rise of the Hambledon club, I Zingari, the impact of gambling, together with tutorials on batting, bowling and fielding. The first edition was published in 1851 and there were a further eight editions up to 1887. This 1922 edition comes with an introduction by FS Ashley-Cooper, a full bibliography of all the various editions, a biography of Pycroft, and notes by HH Stephenson, captain of the English team to Australia, 1861-62.

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly.
