(288) pages; heavily stylised illustrations throughout, by Gilbert Rumbold, including the endpapers. Black cloth spine with faded gilt lettering, boards a bit rubbed; old ink inscription to dedication page. “The Cocktail Recipes in this Book have been compiled by Harry Craddock of the Savoy Hotel, London”. Contains recipes for 750 cocktails.

Harry Craddock (1876–1963) was an English bartender who became one of the most famous bartenders of the 1920s and 1930s. he is generally credited for creating the White Lady and Corpse Reviver #2 cocktails. He is known for his tenure at the Savoy Hotel in London and for his 1930 book, The Savoy Cocktail Book. Born in Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, Craddock moved to the United States in 1897 and took up employment at the Hollenden Hotel in Cleveland before moving to the Knickerbocker Hotel and Hoffman House in New York City. He took American citizenship but left America during Prohibition and sailed to Liverpool with his wife and daughter, later taking the position of head cocktail manager of the American Bar at the Savoy Hotel, London, in 1920. While at the Savoy, Craddock co-founded the United Kingdom Bartenders' Guild in 1934. In 1938, he moved to the Dorchester Hotel and then Browns Hotel, retiring in 1947 (Wikipedia)

Returns Policy

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
