First UK Edition in the dust-wrapper which is not  price-clipped but has the original price of 9s 6d on the inside front flap scored out and replaced by 3/6. Frontispiece. 158 pages. Original red cloth boards, spine lettered in silver, no markings or signs of fading; biro-ed price of 3/6 marked at top corner of the flyleaf. Jacket is slightly soiled with a couple of repaired closed tears and some mild wear to head and tail of the spine which is a touch faded, as is usual with this title. A VG copy. Fahrenheit 451 is the temperature at which book paper catches fire and burns.

First published in the USA in 1953 as a paperback by The Ballantine Publishing Group, then issued in hardback with a special edition of 200 numbered and signed copies bound in asbestos. In 1954 novel was serialised in the March, April and May isseues of Playboy magazine.
