Post 4to (280 x 190 mm); (xii), 292 pp; with 30 coloured plates of ducks; half-title and additional illustrated titlepage present. Dark green half morocco over pea green cloth boards, edges and tips of corners of the boards and tail of the spine rubbed; signs of worming to final gathering; top edge gilt; endpapers toned. Superb and bright colour plates by H. Gronvold, G.E. Lodge, and J.G. Keulemans.

Reprinted from the Bombay Natural History Society’s Journal; with Corrections and Additions. Stuart Baker was a British ornithologist and police officer, catalogued the birds of India and produced the second edition of the Fauna of British India which included the introduction of trinomial nomenclature. He made a comprehensive collection of nearly 50, 000 Indian birds' eggs, part of which he donated to the Natural History Museum, where he spent a lot of time working on the egg collections from India and Thailand. His eight-volume contribution to The Fauna of British India, Including Ceylon and Burma series became the standard reference work on the subject.
