Virginia Woolf’s first book, a novel about a young woman’s journey of self-discovery set against the backdrop of a South American ocean voyage. This novel, which E. M. Forster praised as “absolutely unafraid,” also introduces readers to Clarissa Dalloway. First English edition published in 1915, underwent major revisions for publication in the USA in 1920, and this is the first English edition featuring the American revisions.
