Second edition, to coincide with publication of The Human Age Books 2 and 3. Childer-Mass was originally published in 1928. [iiii],(402) pages. Illustrations by Michael Ayrton. Original periwinkle blue boards banded in burgundy and lettered in gilt; minor loss to red band on spine; top edge a little shelf-stained; some tanning to endpapers; else a very good copy in the Michael Ayrton dust-jacket; dust-jacket has a chunk missing from top spine and a little loss from bottom; not affecting text; a bit sunned.

Lewis’s unfinished epic the Human Age was described by Frederic Jameson as “the supreme realization of what has to be called theological science fiction.”
