Original printed boards designed by Angela Lemaire, spine in burnt siena cloth lettered in silver gilt; housed in an oatmeal buckram wrapped slipcase with a linocut pasted on front, two unobtrusive ink stains on edges; sage green endpapers; no markings or imperfections internally in very good boards and slipcase.
“The seventeenth century writings of Thomas Traherne lay largely unknown until they were rediscovered early uin the twentieth century. The writing is celbrated to day for its rapture and elight in nature… but he also wrote of darkness and struggle.” Angela Lemaire selected the passages and designed the illustrations. The paper is from a Zerkall special making, and the type is Truesdell, bound by The Fine Bindery, Wellingborough.
