Original cloth binding, with a paper panel printed from a wooduct, protected by Mylar archival wrapper, with original tissue wrapper as well; unmarked, unblemished, a wonderful copy of a charming and joyful book. Red, hand sewn paper sleeve with four additional plates for subscribers loosely inserted.
Text from the informational brochure loosely inserted – Each twenty-eight page book has gone through the press ninety-six times in its making, the inks for each picture being mixed and applied separately. All but one of the prints is the same size as the original toy…As should suit a book concerning hand-carved & hand-painted toys, it is hand-printed on hand-made paper, and from fifty-nine hand-cut blocks… each copy of the book is hand-sewn and hand-bound.
